The Board of Education is the governing body of the District. The Board sets policy, determines the educational program, and controls financial matters in accordance with the will of the local residents expressed in District Elections.
- Regular meetings are held on the first and/or third Tuesday of the month beginning at 6:00 p.m. (Closed Session), 7:00 p.m. (Regular Session)
- Non-televised meetings are held at the MESD District Office Conference Room at 555 Richmond Drive and may be scheduled as a study session or other special meeting as needed.
- Televised meetings are held at the Millbrae Council Chambers at 621 Magnolia Avenue.
- Televised meetings are available on MCTV (local cable channel 27)

Ms. Lynne Ferrario, President
About Ms. Lynne Ferrario
Lynne has lived in Millbrae for 30 years. She was employed by the Millbrae Elementary School District for 25 years as a teacher and principal. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Speech, Lifetime Multiple Subject K-9 Teaching Credential, Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration and Administrative Services Credential.
She is currently involved with the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Millbrae Education Foundation, Millbrae Community Foundation and volunteer organizations such as the Reading Is Fundamental Program to promote literacy at all levels.
Special commendations include the Prudential California Realty Excellence in Education Foundation Award, California State Parent-Teacher Association Service Award and the Rotary Club/ Paul Harris Award.

Ms. Maggie Musa, Vice President
About Ms. Maggie Musa
Maggie has lived in Millbrae for over twenty years and is a stay-at-home mom of three boys; her oldest is graduating college this year, one is currently a college sophomore, and her youngest is a freshman at Mills High School.
Through the years, Maggie has spent much of her time volunteering and helping out the community and schools of Millbrae. Starting out by teaching Art-in-Action, planning holiday parties, and classroom projects, her volunteering grew into a strong interest in education. Mrs. Musa has served as the PTA President of Spring Valley Elementary and Taylor Middle School, a member of the School Site Council as well as the DAC/DELAC (District Advisory Committee/District English Language Advisory Committee), and the Millbrae Council of PTAs. As President of the PTA, she actively collaborated with teachers and principals, in addition to progressing with the goal to implement twenty-first century technology in classrooms.
Currently, Maggie is serving as a Trustee for the Millbrae School District. “I have an outstanding relationship with the teachers and staff, and I have seen what needs improvement. Over the years, I feel I have acquired a superior background to bring in positive ideas and fix some flaws that have remained unadministered in the recent years. I am here to change and enhance the policies of the district and make the environment our kids grow up in a better place for everyone, and to prepare our kids for high school and beyond.”

Ms. Karen Chin, Clerk
About Ms. Karen Chin
Karen with her husband and two boys, have been proud Millbrae community members since 2009. Both her boys attended Millbrae public schools. She has been an active school volunteer and started by helping in the classroom, serving as a community liaison for the Millbrae Education Foundation, serving on the PTA in various leadership roles including Spring Valley PTA President and Millbrae Council President. Karen has experience successfully working with the community and led the 2019 parcel tax campaign to secure funding across the entire district.Karen is passionate about making sure ALL have access to opportunity. Karen helped co-found the Millbrae Anti-Racist Coalition to ensure that Milbrae is an inclusive, welcoming and safe community that works for everyone. She consults to organizations and non profits to provide support to under-represented groups and has led projects to help bridge the digital divide as well as provide and preserve affordable housing.Karen has worked in Finance providing investments to grow small and medium sized businesses and has been an executive and a consultant to Fortune 500 companies. She graduated from University of Pennsylvania and has a Masters in Business from Stanford University.Term expires 2026 -
Mr. Frank Barbaro, Trustee
About Mr. Frank Barbaro
Frank was elected by the Millbrae residents in 2007 and 2011 and has served as president of the board in 2009 and 2013.
Frank and his wife, Kris, have been married for 38 years and have two children, one a UCSB graduate and the other is attending USC. He and his family have lived in Millbrae for the past 26 years and have been involved in Millbrae schools PTAs in various positions ranging from hospitality as well as serving as co-presidents. Mr. Barbaro has been a member of the Taylor Middle School and Mills High School Site Councils. He served on the Millbrae District Advisory Committee for the superintendent, as well as co-chair of the 2006 Parcel Tax committee.
Frank has been a member of the Millbrae Lions Club since 2004, serving the Millbrae schools and surrounding community and served on the Millbrae Lions board from 2005 to 2007. He was president of the Golden Gate Bolt & Supply Company from 1991-2011. He currently serves on the Millbrae School District facilities committee.

Ms. Claire Beltrami, Trustee
About Ms. Claire Beltrami
Claire has served as the Principal for Lomita Park Elementary School and as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for the Millbrae Elementary School District. Prior to her time in Millbrae, she was the Principal at Belle Air Elementary School in San Bruno. She began her career in education as a classroom teacher and served as an instructional coach for teachers in the San Francisco Unified School District. Claire received her master’s degree in educational leadership from University California, Berkeley.
Claire has lived in Millbrae for twenty-seven years; her three daughters attended Millbrae schools and her granddaughter is currently a first grader at Meadows School. Claire is now retired, but remains actively involved in the community. As a Rotarian, she believes in service above self and is the new advisor for the Mills High School Interact Club.
Claire believes that all children are unique and must have a balanced educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. As a lifelong learner, she is committed to seek opportunities to acquire and implement effective initiatives that meet the rapid changes in education.
Claire is ready to continue the vision of the Millbrae Elementary School District to enhance and strengthen our schools by working with our community to provide the best learning experience for all students.Term expires in 2024
