Principal's Message

  • January 14, 2024

    Dear Lomita Park Community,

It is an honor to have been chosen as the new principal.  I have appreciated getting to know you these past few months, listening to your insights, and learning from the wisdom of our valued community members--our students, families, staff, and faculty.  Together, we will continue your work of creating a joyful school environment where all students learn and thrive.

My ties and commitment to our community run deep.  I attended elementary school in Millbrae, and some of my earliest memories are of spending time with family members who live just a few minutes away from Lomita Park.  I am a first-generation college graduate who served as student body president at the College of San Mateo, began teaching in 1999, and most recently served students as the Dean of Academics.  I was raised by hard-working parents in South San Francisco, which helps me to forge a personal connection to the hopes and dreams that resonate within Lomita Park’s students and families.  These experiences and my sense of belonging to the community further ignite my determination to help foster an environment where each student, family, staff, and faculty member feels truly appreciated and empowered.

Together, I am excited to embark on this journey of Lomita Park’s mission: to prepare all students for responsible citizenship and to promote intellectual, physical, social, and cultural development.  Your input and collaboration are invaluable to creating a thriving, inclusive school community as we fulfill this mission.  Please do not hesitate to reach out.

    Warmly,

    Dr. Janeen Malatesta

    Lomita Park Principal
