Principal's Welcome Message

August 22, 2023
Dear Lomita Park,
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! I am pleased to say we are off to a great start. Students have been enjoying reconnecting with old friends and are starting to form new friendships as well. As I walk through classrooms, I see students engaged and eager to learn. They are proud to share what they are learning too! Our students have been extremely welcoming and I am impressed with how easily they engage in conversation with me. Observing their level of curiosity and passion is what makes being an educator a joy.
We have a few changes happening at Lomita Park. I believe the most visible change is the shade structure. The construction area is hard to miss with the fencing all around it. Crews were on-site on Tuesday, August 22nd, and are hoping to make progress on the structure this weekend. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the new structure is ready soon. We also have a new play structure for our littlest learners. They have truly been loving having this all to themselves. Along the back of the property, we have a new fence. We also have some plans to make the fence more appealing that we will be able to share in the near future.
While many of you may have enjoyed Back to School Night and met our new staff, I'd like to recognize our new additions to Lomita Park:
TK Crystal Friscia
1st Grade Polly Giles
2nd Grade Angelo Regalia
4th Grade Rebekah Schlimmer
5th Grade Jennifer Shaw
As mentioned in our Welcome back letter, we are still actively searching for a principal for Lomita Park. Please know this is a priority for the district. In the meantime, I am happy to be serving the Lomita Park community. Please reach out to me by phone or email.
Best Regards,
Terry Brenner
