District Announcements

  • Good evening Millbrae families and team,

On many occasions over the last 24 hours, I have reached for my computer to script a message to our community that would perhaps bring a bit of solace and reassurance regarding the safety of our schools in Millbrae. Each time I began to write I became tripped up on my own words - mostly because I have none. Our hearts are broken, once again, as we read, listen and watch about a tragedy that creates heartache and silence.

I wish i knew all 2000 plus children in our school district personally, I wish I could find the words to express how deeply I care for each and every one of them in spite of knowing only the tip of the iceberg about their remarkable lives.  I care for our parents, our families, our community, our team and our precious, precious children. May we remember Evelyn, Hallie, William, Cynthia, Katherine and Mike tonight and always. My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with these beautiful souls and their families.

    With love,
    Debbie

  • Join our team!

Thank you for your interest in joining the MESD family. We are proud of the fact that our vision and guiding principles allow us to attract and retain a talented staff. With outstanding support coupled with a positive and safe learning environment, WE ACHIEVE THE EXTRAORDINARY!

The city of Millbrae is a small suburban community situated in northern San Mateo County overlooking the San Francisco International Airport. Our students are a wonderful reflection of our city and its support for education. MESD is a TK-8 district, operating five neighborhood schools: Green Hills Elementary, Lomita Park Elementary, Meadows Elementary, Spring Valley Elementary and Taylor Middle School. All our schools have an active PTA, supporting school-based programs. Our Millbrae Education Foundation (MEF) is a parent-led organization providing support for music and technology education for all five of our schools.

We are seeking talented individuals who support our vision and "..commit to a shared purpose that guarantees each student a strong academic foundation".

  • Good afternoon Millbrae Families,

How time flies. . .it seems like just yesterday I was wishing you a wonderful summer and now it is time to welcome you all back to school! I am hopeful that summer found you doing whatever it is that makes your heart smile the brightest with the people you love the very most.

Our team has been busy preparing for the arrival of our students and are excited to share the wonderful plans we have for the coming school year. Preparation and work in the areas of social emotional health, teaching and learning, safety and facilities have been our focus, and we are excited to share all of this information with our families in the coming weeks.

Please meet Millbrae’s Cabinet - our team will be an integral part of the ongoing communication you will receive this year -

Claudia Buttigieg - Director of Human Resources

Geoff Horn - Director of Educational Technology

Christina Passmore - Director of Special Education

Terry Brenner - Director of Educational and Administrative Services

Ralph Crame - Chief Business Officer

    Debra French – Superintendent

Please view this link  MESD COVID-19 Safety Plan to read our most updated Safety Plan. As we enter the school year masks are strongly recommended but are not required. If you have any questions about our plan, please do not hesitate to reach out.

I am hopeful you are as excited about the school year as the team in Millbrae is. There is a wonderful “buzz” in the air. . .one of hope, joyful spirit, excitement and grace. We can’t wait to welcome our students back tomorrow morning!

    Gratefully,

    Debbie
