2026-2027 New Student Registration Information

Registration appointments are required. Our registration starts with an in-person visit to verify residency. You will receive your online portal login after this appointment.

New this year, we are offering families the ability to book their in-person registration appointment online. Please see the links at the bottom of this page, available after January 12, 2026, to schedule an in-person registration appointment. If you have trouble scheduling online, please call your assigned neighborhood school directly. Thank you!

New student registration appointments will begin on January 20, 2026.

To locate your assigned neighborhood school - please click HERE.  All students eligible for Grades 6 through 8 attend Taylor Middle School.

All 2026-2027 Registration Forms, Documents and Requirements will be posted on our website on December 23, 2025 and can be found here. To protect student privacy, MESD does not collect Social Security Numbers or Immigration status during registration.

Residence Eligibility:
Assigned neighborhood elementary school assignments are based on MESD school boundaries. All students eligible for Grades 6 through 8 attend Taylor Middle School.

Due to the impact in enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year, all students will be assigned to their neighborhood school based on their home address and classroom space availability. If a school has more students registered than they have seats available within the grade level (Transitional Kindergarten-5th grade), students will be enrolled in priority order based on the date of their fully completed registration, including the online portion. If there is a lack of classroom space at your assigned neighborhood school, your student will be placed on a waiting list for your assigned neighborhood school, but, in the meantime, will be assigned to another school within the Millbrae Elementary School District with the available classroom space. District administration will continue to review enrollment numbers and will contact all families affected by a change in assigned neighborhood school, prior to the start of the school year.

Age & Grade Level Eligibility:

Children entering TK in the 2026-2027 school year must be 4 (four) years old by September 1, 2026.
Children entering Kindergarten in the 2026-2027 school year must be 5 (five) years old by September 1, 2026.

Transitional Kindergarten

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program that uses a modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate. The TK program is focused on early literacy experiences, social and emotional development, self-regulation and self-help skills, and motor skill development. TK is a bridge between preschool and kindergarten that prepares the youngest preschool students for educational success.
