The Missing Window
Written by, Cyrus Liang
It was fall in
the forest of Cigamburg where Gregor D’Lacey lived. Gregor is a tell man with
hazel eyes and dirty blonde hair. He always wears a pair of jeans and a
t-shirt. The 28-year old lived alone in his little wooden house in the western
side of the forest. Earlier that day, he came back from his daily morning jog,
and went to the refrigerator to get something to ear. When Gregor opened the
refrigerator and stuck his hand in, he could only find empty plates and bowls.
Gregor
couldn’t remember inviting any friends over last night, but recalled he went to
the store the day before. Someone must
have broken into my house while I was gone, but why food? Thought Gregor, I better go and check if anything else was
stolen. The front door was locked
when I came in, so I also need to look for an open window. There was
nothing missing in the living room except the chocolates he bought yesterday
and a bottle of water. In the bathroom, the soap was there, the toothpaste was
there, but the socks he spilled soda on were missing. His bedroom was the only
room left to check, and when Gregor walked in, he saw the window was entirely
missing. The hole that now decorated the northeastern corner was bigger than
the biggest television at Costco.
Gregor
jumps over the remains of his window and looks around to see if the culprit is
still around. He notices a blood rail going off to the east. The person must have been injured by the
glass, thought Gregor. He follows the blood trail careful to stay hidden,
so if suddenly the person appears he won’t be caught. The trail went around
trees, twisted and turned, went straight, and suddenly turned left into a
mountain. Gregor saw the trail go to the base of the mountain, and then it goes
up into a cave.
The person went into a cave, maybe
that’s where their hideout is! Yes, I finally get to have my food back,
thought Gregor. Gregor starts to climb the mountain, but the mountain is steep.
He fails the first few times, but Gregor finds a way up. He only gets a fourth
done in half an hour; even thought he is slow, Gregor keeps on working toward
the top. He can still see some of the blood, but it is drying and blending. It
gets harder for Gregor because he didn’t ear lunch, and it is almost his dinner
time. He keeps on going until he reaches a cave, and he can see the blood going
in. Man, that was tiring, thought Gregor, Now to ask for the food.
“Hello,
I would like to have my food back!” yelled Gregor.
There
was no response, so Gregor takes a step in. Right before he put his foot down
though, a bear comes out and growls at him. Gregor sees all of the teeth, and
they all have chocolate covering it, Gregor’s chocolate. Gregor climbed down
the mountain and ran; the bear ran after him. Gregor ran back to his house and
opened the car door. He drove away from the bear because he understands why
there is a huge hole, and who ate his food.
The bear had broken through his window
to get food, and the glass got stuck in its body. It is almost time for
hibernation, and bear eat a lot. Gregor reasoned to just go away and go to the
store again.
