Freedom
Written by,
Lydia Joh
I’ve looked
at the clouds in the sky,
And the
stars seem to send me a message, as I sigh.
And finally
I realize I don’t need to hide,
All
of my thoughts deep inside.
So I’ll sing
to the world,
My banner is
now unfurled.
I want to be
free, free as a bird.
I want to be
free. I want to be heard.
My mind may
be bound,
My will may
be chained.
But the one
thing you’ll never catch,
Is
my soul.
The clouds
have changed from where I sit,
And to the
beauty I submit.
This world
is full of beauty and pain,
But through
it all, I must remain.
Alive I
forge on.
Until
the dawn.
So I’ll
shout to the world,
My fists are
now curled.
I want to be
free, free and alive,
I want to be
free. I want to survive.
My mind may
be broken,
My will may
be taken.
But the one
thing that will stay whole,
Is
my soul.
The clouds
have gone away,
The rain is
kept at bay.
At least in
my life,
There will
be no more strife.
Because I
have said I won’t back down,
Do you see
my pride, it is my crown.
So I’ll
laugh at the crowd,
And I’ll
say, straight out loud.
I am now
free, free and secure.
I am now
free. I’ve found my cure.
My mind was
once chained,
My will was
once crushed.
But the one
thing you could not touch,
Was
my soul.
